Why would they PLAN a crash landing?!

Damn, I thought that Russian spacecraft had made it to the moon.
It did. A few years before Armstrong, a Russian spacecraft (Luna 2) crashed into the moon and another one (Luna 3) took the first pictures of it. Luna 1 was supposed to make it to the moon but never did.

Um....they don't consider the former USSR part of Europe?
Parts of it, yeah. Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, and part of Russia.

Those nations are part of Europe, and Georgia may be too...I dunno if it's supposed to be in Europe or Asia.

It's that I kinda thought the Ruskies, were, you know like Europeans. The headline called this Europe's 1st lunar mission.

Well, the Russkies are Europeans so maybe they had something to do with all this...I dunno.
