LONDON — British police are investigating several suspicious "items" discovered close to a highway that could be related to the plot to blow up airliners, Sky News reported Thursday....

Explosives officers are investigating several suspicious "items" discovered close to the M40 motorway.
Scotland Yard has so far refused to discuss what the items are or whether they are linked to any on-going operation by its Anti-Terrorist Branch.
But they are not thought to be explosives.
Sky News has been told that several "bags" have been found and that they could be connected to the alleged plot to blow up airliners......
