Adnan "Jafar the Pilot" El Shukrijumah
Ciro Vitolo comes forward

Friday, May 12, 2006

Ciro Vitolo has come forward to say he is not the FBI-hunted Al Qaeda terrorist Adnan "Jafar the Pilot" El Shukrijumah, who is believed to have posed as a student at Hamilton’s McMaster University.

At the request of Judi McLeod, Ciro Vitolo--whose picture appears with McMaster’s graduate engineering Class of 98-- checked into Canada Free Press’s Elm Street office, late Thursday afternoon.

In real life, Ciro Vitolo--who admits that he bears a striking resemblance to terrorist El Shukrijumah--is a limo driver, whose next door neighbour says puts in 12-hour shifts working at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

"Your missing Ciro Vitolo is not married, does not have children, did attend McMaster and currently drives a limo," Vitolo’s next-door neighbour, York Region school board trustee, Marg Aldridge wrote in an email to CFP. "He can be reached at (telephone number), please prepare your apology."

Meanwhile, The Dunces of Doomsday author Paul L. Williams says El Shukrijumah and other Al Qaeda members may have posed as students at McMaster. "In preparation for this mission (American Hiroshima) he, along with fellow Al Qaeda agents Anas al-Liby, Jaber A. Elbaneh and Amer el Maati, was sent to McMaster University in Hamilton, Ont., a facility that housed a 5 megawatt nuclear research reactor, the largest reactor of any educational facility in Canada. At McMaster University, where the Al Qaeda agents may have registered under fictitious names, Shukrijumah and friends wasted no time in gaining access to the nuclear reactor and stealing more than 180 pounds of nuclear material for the creation of radiological bombs."

snipe - much longer, very interesting article.

"North Korea Working to Boost Nuclear Capability"
NewsMax.com Wires
Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BEIJING -- A U.S. scholar, who just visited North Korea, says Pyongyang plans to unload more fuel rods at its Yongbyon nuclear reactor, which would boost its weapons capability. The move appears to be aimed at pressuring the United States into one-on-one talks.

U.S. academic Selig Harrison, who has long-standing ties with North Korean officials, has sometimes conveyed messages from the North Korean government to the United States.

On Saturday, Harrison spoke to reporters in Beijing after a four-day trip to North Korea, where he met with senior officials.

"The most important thing I learned, and the one clear news piece from this visit, is that North Korea is planning to unload the fuel rods, again, in the Yongbyon nuclear reactor to reprocess more plutonium, enough plutonium for three-to-six more nuclear weapons, depending on when they unload it," he said."

Coalition Forces Detain 26 in Three Incidents, Find Munitions

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Sept. 24, 2006 – Coalition forces detained 21 suspected terrorists in Iraq yesterday, while another five suspects were detained and a weapons cache discovered based on an Iraqi citizen’s tip.
Iraqi army and Multinational Division Baghdad soldiers detained 21 suspected terrorists in several incidents around Baghdad.

Soldiers from 4th Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, stopped eight vehicles attempting to speed through a checkpoint south of Baghdad. While searching the vehicles, the soldiers seized illegal weapons and took 13 suspected terrorists into custody.

About three hours later, terrorists attacked soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 4th Brigade, 8th Iraqi Army Division, 30 kilometers south of Baghdad. The terrorists killed an Iraqi soldier after firing on the Iraqi troops with rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns. The soldiers fought off their attackers and detained eight suspected terrorists.

Iron Brigade soldiers also quickly acted on intelligence gathered from an Iraqi citizen to apprehend five suspected insurgents and find a cache of various munitions and weapons yesterday.

The Iraqi informed a patrol from Company A, 1st Battalion, 68th Armor, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Task Force Lightning, about a house used by insurgents to coordinate attacks on Iraqi security and coalition forces.

The patrol approached and surrounded the house, in which they detained five individuals. The patrol found a Russian-made PKC machine gun, AK-47 assault rifles, magazines, mortar rounds taped together, a case of ammunition, projectiles, a bandoleer, and a sniper rifle with a scope. The detainees were brought to Forward Operating Base Warhorse for further questioning.

(Compiled from Multinational Corps Iraq news releases.)

ICE and Ohio Task Force arrest criminal alien wanted for murder and featured on "Mexico's Most Wanted" list
Arrest made under ICE anti-gang initiative Operation Community Shield

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A career criminal alien featured on Mexico's “Most Wanted” list was apprehended here today. The announcement was made by the apprehending agencies, which include: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the U.S. Marshals Service, the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, and the Ohio Adult Parole Authority.

Julio Ernesto Cobian-Ariaza, 27, a citizen of Mexico, was apprehended in Dublin, Ohio, today after the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) received information indicating that an outstanding Mexican Fugitive Warrant of Apprehension was issued for Ariaza, who was known to be in the area. Ariaza who was convicted of attempted murder in the United States, is wanted in Mexico for his connection to two homicides and two attempted homicides committed there.

ICE special agents conducted database checks revealing a lengthy criminal history on Ariaza in America, including convictions for attempted murder, assault with a firearm, and street terrorism (gang activity). Ariaza has street gang ties to the Little Brook Street Gang based in California. Database checks additionally revealed that Ariaza was deported twice to Mexico, first in May 1999 and again as an aggravated felon in September 2001. It is a felony to re-enter the United States punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Ariaza was arrested under ICE's Operation Community Shield, a comprehensive national initiative launched by ICE in February 2005 to dismantle violent street gangs with foreign-born members. Since its inception, Operation Community Shield has resulted in arresting more than 3,400 gang members nationwide, which represent 370 gangs.

“This case is a prime example of how federal, state and local law enforcement agencies work together seamlessly to take an alleged murderer off the streets of America, so he can be brought to justice in his homeland,” said Brian M. Moskowitz, special agent in charge of the ICE Office of Investigations in Detroit. “We will not hesitate to use our Nation's immigration laws in our continued efforts to protect the American people from violent criminals who do not belong in this country.” Moskowitz' area of responsibility includes the States of Ohio and Michigan.

“I am pleased with the collaborative effort from the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) and the Department of Homeland Security. Diligent investigation and sound tactics made locating and apprehending this fugitive possible,” said U.S. Marshal, Southern District of Ohio, James Wahlrab.

Ariaza remains in ICE custody pending his removal to Mexico.

About Operation Community Shield:
Operation Community Shield was launched in February 2005 after a threat assessment by ICE identified MS-13 as one of the largest and most violent street gangs in the country. The assessment found that most of these gang members were foreign-born, in the United States illegally, had prior criminal convictions, and/or were involved in crimes that made them subject to ICE's broad immigration and customs authorities.

ICE kicked off Operation Community Shield with an enforcement action that resulted in arresting more than 100 MS-13 gang members. In the months afterward, ICE agents nationwide joined ranks and continued targeting MS-13 members in their jurisdictions. In May 2005, ICE expanded Operation Community Shield to include all criminal street gangs and prison gangs with foreign-born members.

Since that time, ICE has been targeting all violent gang members nationwide by using its administrative immigration authorities to detain and deport illegal alien gang members from the country, and by using its criminal authorities to arrest and prosecute gang members involved in criminal activities.

Note: Here is a poster regarding Suspicious Mail or Packages.

PROTECT YOUR WORKPLACE
Learn All About Suspicious Packages

09/20/06

Do you know the warning signs of a potentially dangerous letter or package? And what to do if you come across one?

You can find out in just a few minutes, thanks to a newly revised "Suspicious Mail or Packages" poster developed through the joint efforts of four federal agencies—the Department of Homeland Security; the U.S. Postal Service and its Postal Inspection Service; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the FBI.

Why the update? Before, three of our agencies were using similar but slightly different posters. To get all of the agencies on the same page—figuratively and literally—the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service spearheaded a campaign to have the single, identical poster we're now making available to the public.

So what's our collected advice?

First, be suspicious if you come across mail/packages with:

Protruding wires or strange odors;
Excessive tape or string;
Oily spots, discolorations, or crystallization on the wrapper;
Excessive postage;
Addressing mistakes and issues, including misspelled words, badly typed or written addresses, wrong titles with names, no return addresses, etc.
Second, if you do see one or more of these tell-tale signs, you should:

Stop…don't handle the item;
Isolate it immediately;
Don't open, smell, or taste it;
Activate your emergency plan and notify a supervisor.
Please take the time to read the poster for all the details. A few minutes of your time now might just save you or a co-worker from future harm. Better yet, download or print the poster from the U.S. Postal Service website and display it in your workplace. You can also pick up a free hard copy at your local post office.

For more workplace security posters, see the "Protect Your Workplace" campaign materials posted on the Department of Homeland Security website.
