I escaped from the People's Republic of California in 1999.
Are there still a lot of Vietnamese in Garden Grove? They used to be very Republican.
Don't get me started about Garden Grove! Vietnamese flags everywhere, lions and pagodas line Lampson Street. You should see it. And if you roll down your windows, you can smell the kim che!! I am serious!
My point is, that we used to have Olvera street in LA to go spend the day looking at Mexican culture, and it was neat, and we had little Tokyo and such. And then you would drive a few minutes to go home... but now, it's little Vietnam, little (Big) mexico, little this, little that. It's happened quick too! I went to Universal Studios last weekend, and was the only english speaker. I am not exaggerating. Not one bit.
I wouldn't know. I live in Wyoming. :-)
