Profanity is not a good thing for children, or anyone for that matter. It debases us as a whole.
That said, September 11th was a soul changing experience for anyone that paid attention. In that vein, you learn about a so-called religion, that is really just a cult. That disturbs me a whole lot more, than people in dire circumstances using profanity.
My son was 4 years old on that September morning, I vowed then to make sure he would never forget. I know it was like a movie to him that day at his young age, and I tried to amuse him with his toys and his friends that day. Horror on that scale, should not be on their plate.
I hid in the bathroom and cried my heart out on that day.
Now that he is nine, he wants to understand the causes of what happened on 9/11, and why it occured.
Life is tough. We plan on dealing with it, as we have since that day. Teach your child about this beautiful country. My son is interested in the Civil War, big time. Freedom will always come at a price. If they understand that, a few rough words won't harm them.

4 is not old enough to understand what went on that day, even if they sat glued to the TV a child that age can not rationalize what is happening.
9, depending on the child, may still not full comprehend what happened but at that age it should be hidden from them, in fact, they should know the dangers we face in this world and in our own country. I've never found censoring reality from children is helpful.
With that said, if parents are worried about their young children hearing the cursing that took place that day, don't' let them watch the documentary. For those like you, who applaud, let them watch and try to explain to them what happened that day and why we are still fighting against fanatical Islamics.
I seriously doubt a child is going to wonder why some guy watching hundreds if not thousands of people dying before their eyes was cussing. They're most likely going to ask, why did it happen in the first place.
