BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) - Israel's foreign minister said Wednesday the situation in Lebanon was "explosive" while Syria's president says the deployment of international troops along the Syria-Lebanon border would be a "hostile" act.
The escalating rhetoric came as the 10-day cease-fire was shaken by the deaths of three Lebanese soldiers killed defusing a missile and an Israeli killed by a land mine in south Lebanon.
Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Saniora urged the U.S. to help end Israel's sea and air blockade, saying his country was making "every effort" to secure its borders.
"Time is working against those who would like to see this resolution applied," Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said after talks her French counterpart, Phillipe Douste-Blazy. "We are now in the most sensitive and explosive position."
"We therefore need extremely quick action from the international community," she said.
Syrian President Bashar Assad was quoted as saying he would consider such a deployment along the Lebanon-Syria border a "hostile" move toward his country.
"First, this means creating a hostile condition between Syria and Lebanon," Assad told Dubai Television, according to excerpts released by the TV station ahead of the broadcast. "Second, it is a hostile move toward Syria and naturally it will create problems."

Every effort except removing terrorists and blocking them from entering the country.
"Here we go, Israel, here we go!"
Just trying to be relevant. A Hezbollah wannabe.
Syria is going to make another foray into Lebanon.
And there isn't a dang thing the Lebanese, the UN or Israel can do about it.

That poofer of a president in Syria is telling Lebanon what they can, and cannot have, along Lebanon's own border?
LOL!
Bump. (I'm stuned...)
You think this is a change from before because....? Who do you think was running Lebanon before Israel invaded?
Don't lift the blockade until the entire UN force is in place with a strong mandate. That is the least Israel must get out of this deal!
Israel and the West has shown its underbelly and the cockroaches feel they can dare come out into the open.
Hehehehe. Sounds like the Syrians are hiding behind the Hezbo's.
Remember the Beka valley, what might be found stashed in eastern Lebanon?
CAN YOU SAY WMD?
How much more of this crap are we going to put up with and how many more Israelis will have to die before the bad guys are taken out permanently and decisively, the EU, Russia, China and the UN be d****ed.
I agree, that Beka valley needs to be excavated until there is no doubt that there is not even a needle left there.
I doubt anyone here is surprised that the UN Resolution is a dead letter before the ink is dry.
Israel needs to resolve its Olmert problem, and then re-engage and finish dismantling Hezbollah. But I doubt they will act until Hezbollah itself re-initiates the battle, which means that the war will resume on Syria and Iran's timetable, not Israel's.
Because Israel, for whatever reason, did not finish this war, the war will resume and more Israelis are going to die. But that is not the only outcome. The other is that the UN has been shown to be willing to intervene (diplomatically at least) to save Hezbollah from destruction, but completely unwilling to confront Hezbollah.
There is value in clarity.
If they are unwilling to confront Hezbollah, it is not difficult to surmise that they will not confront Iran, regardless of the text of any of its pronouncements promising consequences if its pronouncements are ignored. While Iran draws the obvious conclusions from that, the US and Israel must also draw the appropriate conclusions. Bush had their number when he found he could get any kind of resolution he wanted, but no help in executing their resolutions. Hence his supposed "unilateralism".
Israel can get resolutions calling for the disarming of Hezbollah, no problem, the UN hands these things out like tissue, but if she wants them disarmed, she'll have to do it herself.
