Muslim plane anger
7DAYS ^ | Tuesday, 22nd August, 2006

The decision to remove two men from a flight before it took off from the Spanish port of Malaga for the English city of Manchester after fellow passengers feared they might be terrorists was condemned by Muslim leaders in Britain, it was reported yesterday. Some among the 150 passengers on board the Monarch Airlines flight demanded that staff remove two men after they expressed alarm about their behaviour on Wednesday, a spokesman for the airline said.

Cabin crew informed Spanish authorities of the passengers’ fears and the men - who apparently looked Asian and spoke Arabic - were taken off the flight and questioned by police. The pair flew back to Manchester later in the week and were not arrested by British police. Khalid Mahmoud, a governing Labour Party MP, told The Guardian the decision was "hugely irrational". "You can’t just accuse anybody who’s of Asian appearance and treat them like a terrorist.

"If somebody is threatening anybody it’s understandable, but when they are just travelling for their own needs it’s not. "People just need to calm down." The Islamic Human Rights Commission told the newspaper that "ever-increasing Islamophobia" was to blame for the removal of the men.

The Daily Mirror, meanwhile, quoted Muhammad Abdul Bari, head of the Muslim Council of Britain, as saying: "While it is sensible for all of us to be vigilant, it is not sensible to pick on Muslims simply because they happen to dress differently or appear to be speaking to each other in Arabic." Travellers have been increasingly jittery in the wake of Britain’s announcement that an alleged terror plot was foiled about ten days ago.

I've said this a million times, but if short, middle-aged Jewish women were blowing themselves up on planes, I would EXPECT to be carefully looked at when I boarded a plane.

I've worked with a ton of Indians and Pakis and they all refer to themsleves as Asians.

I'm (slowly but surely) learning to speak converstaional Arabic.

I have made a point of learning how to say "bomb," "explosion", "blow up" and other phrases so that I'll recognize them if I ever hear them in conversation, particularly on a plane or in an airport.

"Seems to me that everthing is condemned by Muslims so what's new?"

Except terrorism committed by Muslims.

"I've worked with a ton of Indians and Pakis and they all refer to themsleves as Asians."

So what's your point? My point is that the terms used elsewhere in the world can be confusing to those in the US where the same term has a different meaning. We would be unlikely to refer to an egyptian as african for example. I'm sure the same is true for other cultures trying to make sense of our terminology, such as african-american. Does it apply to a white south african who has immigrated to the US even though it is technically correct? Nope.

The The Islamic Human Rights Commission? How about this name instead?

The Islamic Human Rights Commission for Men, but not women or children, and even if you are a male, then only if you are not an infidel.

there are over 2 billion people living in asia. just because all the 9/11 terrorists were asian doesn't mean that all asians are terrorists.

if you want to gamble with 19:2,000,000,000 odds, that's your fault.

"European" has multiple meanings. It can mean residents of Europe (which may or may not include parts of Turkey and Russia) and it can mean their descendants in other countries. Some would say that a white South African is "European" -- that was the apartheid classification. A Turk or Gypsy whose family had lived in western Istanbul for centuries would not be considered "European" by others.

Israeli teams compete in European sports leagues, Malta is an EU member even through lies to the south of Rabat, Algiers, and Tunis. It is closer to the African mainland than the European mainland and its residents speak an Afro-Asiatic language. Basques, Hungarians, Finns and Turks do not speak Indo-Euopean langauges but Iranians, Afghans and Indians do.

Morocco applied for EU membership but Swtizerland never did. Neither did Argentina, which is generally considered to be more "Euopean" than Morocco.

Should we go on?

that's your fault.

I didn't fly any aircraft into buildings, blow up innocents in markets, or saw someone's head off with a knife.

Neither did the statistically overwhelming majority of Asians.

The foreign minister of Israel said it best:

"Not all Muslims are terrorists, but almost all terrorists are Muslims."

Jesus Christ said it even better:

"A tree is known by its fruit."

Matthew 12:33

Have all Arabs, Persians, and Indonesians committed acts of terrorism? Of course not. Are most Arabs, Persians, and Indonesians overwhelmingly Muslim?

Of course they are.

Is Islam at war with Judeo-Christianity.

Absolutely.

If you cannot see that, you are blind.

It's amazing how many people consider themselves to be patriotic conservatives and then go on to post tripe like this al-Qa'ida mission statement.

By your statements here, I can only gather that you are either one of the most naive posters on Free Republic of all time, or you are a sympathizer to the Islamic death cult.

The perpetrators of this evil will stand before God, and they will wish they were never born.

May I ask you a question? Do you have faith in the true God?

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

You are against us.

Exactly what al-Qa'ida claims, you repeat as Gospel truth -- posting alongside Biblical quotes no less.

Yes, Islamist terrorists are at war with us and want to kill Christians and Jews. This does not mean that Islam the faith is at war with "Judeo-Christianity" the faith.

You're playing into their trap by depicting this as a war between Muslims and Christians.

And then you post pictures from their murder videos.

Despicable.

Yes, it is. Are you trying to convince me, or yourself, of the fantasy that Islam is not at war with Judeo-Christianity?

There is a mountain of evidence in this link to refute your claims. So much so that you would need to post 10,000 pages to attempt to refute it. I challenge you to watch just 5 or 10 minutes of it. But you won't, will you?

You are calculating your odds incorrectly. Those two billion people include women, a lot of children, elderly, disabled, people outside the ages of 18 to 35, millions who never fly on planes, on and on. You get the point.

Well then, to answer your question, no you may not ask me about my religious beliefs.

I don't know how well you know this country, but in America it is generally considered rude to insult a complete stranger and then ask questions about his or her most fundamental beliefs.

Also, I try to not reveal too much about myself to people who apparently have beheading pics stored on their hard drive.

You get the point.

Apparently you don't.

Terrorists don't need to be able-bodied males age 18-35 in airplanes.

Claiming that all Asians are suspect because the 9/11 hijackers were Asian means that 2,000,000,000,000+ are tarred by 19 murderes that the statistically overwhelming majority of them did not know.
