If you bothered to read the article, you'd find this line by Fr. Euteneuer. The president must demonstrate a consistent respect for the sanctity of all human life or he risks provoking a great divorce with the conservative Catholics that compromise a large part of his support base. Human beings in the embryonic stage of development deserve equal protection under the law and the president’s position falls far short of that mark.

You are so right about this. I'm surprised my Catholic Church didn't have a vote for Kerry sign on the altar. I hate when people get side tracked about issues like this anyway. It is all about who Bush appoints to the bench. They are the ones making decisions that effect our lives. Carter's appointment of that awful judge that couldn't even write a well written decision puts all our lives in danger. People who won't vote for a Republican because of this decision or sit out and not vote will pay the price when a Hillary appointment makes a outrageous court decision.

Also, for the first time since 1928, more Catholics voted Republicans than Democrats in the 2004 presidential election. When they did exit polling during that election, the biggest issue for voters were social issues. It was the "gay marriage" amendments during that election that passed overwhelmingly as well.

Have you been hiding in a cave or do you just like spreading bigoted disinformation? Catholics voted 52-47 for Bush over Kerry and mass attending Catholics voted 56-43 against Kerry nationwide. If a majority of Ohio Catholic voters hadn't broke against the nominally Catholic candidate, John Kerry would have won the election.

Conservative Catholics, yes. If he and/or the GOP want to tell us to go you-know-what ourselves, we'll stay home, vote for third party candidates, etc.

It's not like Republicans are winning these elections in landslides you know. Florida goes to Gore or Ohio to Kerry and it's 8 years of Democrats.
