My wife has trouble finding so many local places. If I tell here to take a left (or right), she freaks out. She has called me many times needing directions to local businesses, not to talk about other places. Don't even talk to me about her ability to find a service station in time, before there are no fumes left in the tank.

Ask around. This is almost universal.
I have a suspicion about the reason: Women want someone to tell them how to get there. Their ultimate goal is to get there. Men want someone to tell them where it is and then take responsibility for finding their own way. It is a fun challenge and men get satisfaction from the "accomplishment".
There's probably a bit of truth in that joke.
