POSTED: 11:56 am EDT August 17, 2006 DETROIT -- A federal judge in Detroit has ruled that the Bush Administration's warrantless surveillance program violates the Constitution.
The case was brought by the American Civil Liberties Union against the National Security Agency. The ACLU argued that the domestic surveillance program violates the rights to free speech and privacy.

Judge in this case is U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor. In 1979, three years after she campaigned for Jimmy Carter's presidential bid, Carter rewarded Taylor with a lifetime appointment to U.S. District Court in Detroit.
