I suspect he did as well as I did. But as the following from the article states, I suspect you are moved by ideals, not practicality.
There are many unintended consequences to this. Farmers have been putting manure back in the soil for many years, this is just a variation of the theme that looks to me to cause more problems than provide solutions. It is very difficult to come up with a better plan than God has put in nature. Basic biology is that most plants are starved for CO2.....there is a biological solution in place already that I trust more than mans technology.
