I know. I think most people are so inundated with a media blitz that their eyes glaze over and the sublime and the ridiculous become interchangeable. Even on the more "serious" cable programs hosts and guests interrupt each other, cross-talk, and jabber simultaneously. They degenerate into what George Will calls, "high-volume, low-brow cable shout-a-thons".

One good thing about them for me - I have more time for reading good material!

Did you note that "Grandparents" were complimented here? What's to complain about?

I'll assume, even if I should not "assume anything" that the grandparents mentioned here include those of us who are still alive and kicking. And many of us are annoyed and exasperated with the left-leaning people in our country, plus a few other trends of the younger set.

major universities are turning out kids...

Yet we still believe it's a "must" for our children to get that college degree. That includes parents who object to the leftist propaganda to which these students are subjected.

The only solution I can come up with for parents like this is to keep their children out of college for at least one year. Refuse to pay for it. Let the kid work for a year.

A national movement with this goal would have to begin and spread throughout the country. There is strength in numbers.

Let these overpriced schools know who's keeping them in business. Make them figure out how they're going to pay their liberal professors' salaries without the tuitions they rely upon.

How else can they be forced to get the message that many, many citizens object to their leftwing brainwashing and will no longer tolerate it?

Of course, my apologies!

While very nice of you to apologize, you didn't offend anyone IMO. I'm a grandparent along with zot, and if I understood your post as you meant it, you did not insult grandparents!

Maybe I missed something! LOL

...many people think they can change the channel and the war will be over...

I hope you're wrong...that at least the majority of people know better. Yet what are most of us other than bystanders to this fight between the West and the heinous terrorists and any countries who support them?

In order to get through our daily lives, with the non-ending problems we have to try to overcome, or accept when there is no solution, I think we're entitled to seek some peace and pleasure, whether it be a sports event, a movie, or whatever it takes to let us keep on doing the tough stuff of daily life.

We now are tired of butting our noses into everyones affairs...

I get your point very well, BUT is it an appropriate question to ask, if it were to come to this, would we rather have these combats in the United States? If we were to be attacked on our soil, would the whole country rally to defend America? Yes, they probably would when the enemy and their suicide bombers moved in with the intention of converting or killing all us "non-believers".

Could that be the alternative to the actions the United States is involved in now?

The difference is that in the coming war with the moslims, the killing will be in our own streets and malls and schools.

If the West is tired of constant warfare, I wonder how they will react when it come to their own neighborhoods.

It will then not be simply a show that we are tired of watching on our TVs but something a hell of a lot more personal.

I had the same idea...but...try to talk kids out of going to college. Forget it. They've been propagandized about the need for a college education and won't skip it.

I believe that the overwhelming response to attacks on US soil in the future, will be calls for negotiation. There will be a large minority that will react with horror and intense calls to fight, but the majority would rather live within a compromise, than die. I pray that I am wrong, but in my heart I am frightened of my fellow citizens.

They've been propagandized...and won't skip it.

If it's propaganda, parents have bought into it, also...for themselves and for their kids. At some point, that piece of paper, that college degree became a must for job success.

For those who prefer to work at a trade, they need a different kind of education. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they won't be putting out $35,000 to $100,000+ to learn.

I'm not suggesting those wanting a college education should "skip it"...only that those who foot the bill "postpone" that decision. It would require a united effort to "wake up" these institutions, let them know that their leftist-leaning "professors" are paid to teach the subject only...and not to espouse their political philosophy. Add to that, parents and students will no longer pay inflated tuition costs.

Without someone willing to lead this crusade, it ain't gonna happen. We'll keep on "putting up with" the same way we tolerate open borders, government waste, etc., etc.
