A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Twinsburg, Ohio.. the city hosting the Twins Day Festival, a three-day celebration of all things twins. Held the first full Fri-Sunday Weekend each August since 1976.. The event has a host of activities planned, from the Double-Take Parade to the Twins Day Contests, which feature such categories as Youngest Twins, Twins Coming Farthest Outside USA and Most Alike Twins, to the group photo of all the participating twins. There are parties, talent sharing, costumes, research studies, counseling sharing, and folks (not just twins.. also, triplets, quads & quints) who participate.(the pix shown are from August 2006 Twins Festival)
Many find their spouses here. and it is NOT uncommon for twins to find twins. More than 3500 twins, triplets and quadruplets came to a place named after its twin founders for what event organizers call the largest gathering of twins in the world. From as far away as Asia, Australia, & England & as young as one month old! The oldest this year were twins in their 80s.
Schools such as Harvard, Northwestern and the University of California, San Diego set up tents in attempts to lure twins to take part in studies on reproductive health, dental care, taste preferences and depth perception.
James Fowler, a professor of political science at the University of California at San Diego and his team of researchers were using twin volunteers to learn more about humans' innate levels of altruism and selfishness.
Multiple births - most often twins - occur when an egg is fertilized and then splits into two developing zygotes, or when two eggs are fertilized by different sperm. The results are, respectively, identical and fraternal twins.
And multiple births, especially identical twins, are of intense interest to scientists. Since identical twins have exactly the same genetic makeup, they're a boon to researchers studying what plays a greater role in development: nature or nurture?
Famous twins:
Minnesota Twins Twin Cities Chang and Eng(b,1811, original Siamese Twins born in Siam (Thailand) Olson Twins Doublement (chewing gum)Twins Bush Twins (Of special interest & thus hi-lighted here) Thread on their Birthday 2004 found HERE
Conjoined Twins present mystery and agony. Formed when the initial zygote does NOT completely split for twins. The are mostly girls and present a wealth of ethical, spiritual & financial questions to parents and health professionals. More information on Conjoined or Siamese Twins Found here
Any Twins here at the Finest? At Free Republic? My mom is a twin. Her fraternal twin Audrey died at 47 from complications of alcohol abuse. Mom is going strong at 87!

Job is going well so far - a little too soon for much feedback from the annointed. We shall see. Thanks for asking.
I have a derivative of that rose in my garden - the Yellow Banksian Rose. Just as vigorous with yellow flowers. I have to cut it back almost weekly to keep it from overwhelming the house.

I wonder if I will ever get back into Roses & into Orchids.. enjoyed them both at the time. But both are very time consuming to get good results & keep healthy plants.
Hope this job works for you. Long term is nice but only nice, if it is a good situation. All the money in the world doesn't compensate for miserable job/people.

Roses I have had moderate success with, but orchids I cannot do. I am death to orchids - I guess if I got an internal greenhouse I could do better, but up to this point I am a dismal failure with orchids.

Thanks for posting even with such a busy schedule.
...Nessa is a necessary fixture @ The Finest!
& oh the prior post I meant cluster.
I'm sure you know that...
To: ConorMacNessa
orchids are difficult as each variety/species has its own set of requirements for temp, humidity, light etc..We had a very large greenhouse & my ex did the largest part of the work.
I was primarily the "purchasing agent"!

We'll leave the discussion of tomatos for another evening - by virtue of my schedule and the blast of heat we had a couple of weeks ago, my poor plants are just about finished. :(

I post, therefore I am. I can post briefly at work, although the firm I'm working for monitors internet use. But of course, I can't post the way I like to - it's just stolen moments, and some threads, like Word for the Day - I haven't found time for at all.
