The troops are aware of what happened during Vietnam and they are concerned the country will do the same to them. All they see in the news overseas is antiwar protests because our side doesn't turn out in sufficient numbers when when pro-mission rallies are held.

I know that there are people who believe that we shouldn't go counter protest because they feel that lends creedence to the protestors. I disagree. When you've been standing there, as I have, against the moonbats, and had a Gulf War vet come up and say that he was upset by the demonstrations going on, and then he took heart when he saw you standing there with a pro-troop, pro-mission sign...well, you just know you're doing the right thing. I challenge anyone who disagrees with counterprotesting to go do it once. I doubt they would keep their same opinion -- if indeed it's an honest opinion and not just an excuse to not do anything.
