Sirhan supposedly believed himself deliberately betrayed by Kennedy's support for Israel in the June 1967 Six-Day War, which had begun exactly one year before the assassination. However the "RFK must die" diary entries started before Kennedy's support of Israel became public knowledge. After his arrest, these journals and diaries were discovered. Most of the entries were incoherent and repetitive, obsessing over a desire to kill Kennedy, among other things. When confronted with these, Sirhan couldn't deny writing them but rather expressed bafflement.[citation needed] In the 1990s, Sirhan proposed the theory that he had been brainwashed, which some conspiracy theorists attribute to the CIA's MKULTRA program.

There are many conspiracy theories regarding RFKs death which imho merit real consideration.
Two pieces that have gotten my attention over the years:
(1) Sirhan supposedly worked for a horse farm owned and operated by organized crime. Bobby had kidnapped Carlos Marcellos (New Orleans capo), and dumped him in the jungles of Guatemala as a "deportation of an illegal alien". Marcellos returned to New Orleans and vowed "get that stone out of my shoe" (referring to RFK). The Mafia (and the CIA, for other reasons) killed JFK to end the reign of RFK as Attorney General.
Flash forward to 1968:
at that moment there was a real likelihood of Bobby winning the Democratic nomination and the election. Since Bobby believed (knew?) the CIA/Mafia had killed his brother he would use Presidential powers to exact revenge.
The Mafia worked with the CIA to brainwash Sirhan. (RFK Must die scribbles over and over and over in Sirhan's diary suggest this brainwashing.)
(2) Another gunmen fired at the scene. There were two many shots, too many bulletholes, for Sirhan to have been the sole shooter.
I think the Israel/Palestine line is just a cover story to make everyone feel good--Sirhan's "radical Palestinian ties" are dubious.
