What can I say, war is hell but not for everyone. The imprisoned Japanese, made the best of it, and even Ronaldous Magnous was wrong occasionally.
I tend to believe more in the flaws of man, than flaws in the Constitution. What type of Constitution would it take to place man in the lockbox so he was unable to manipulate the founding document. After all there was the abiltiy to amend, and I have a problem personally with any of them over the first ten. I submit it would be the antitheses of the very document we have been discussing.
The founding fathers had it exactly right, and they even knew that it would be almost an impossible task to maintain a Republic for any given amount of time, because the Constitution was subject to what man would and could do to it, not the other way around. If only the best, brightest, and wise, strict constructionists were elected to congress, there might not be some of the problems we face today, but then again, times they are a changing.
Fundamentalists of any religion are nut jobs in my view.
But, but reading is fundamental!
I doubt most Christians view Muhammad as a prophet. The New Testament was written before his birth!
Wrong. We were warned by Christ Himself to expect such false prophets.
It is well known that Muslims deny the divinity of Jesus. They respect him as the second to last prophet, but they believe that God neither begets nor is begotten. All the works you cited simply demonstrate a very well known tenet of Islam.
I'm having problems understanding your second-to-last paragraph.
Also, I have repeatedly mentioned that I am not a Muslim. For good measure, I'll write it once more: I am not a Muslim. Having that said, I see nothing wrong with that quote, if accurate. That fits in pretty well with the peaceful aspect of Islam.
It really doesn't make sense that you say Jews and Christians worship the same God but Muslims do not. If your sole criteria for equivalency is the historical beliefs of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, then there is no problem. Muslims view Abraham as a prophet, and stories about him are repeated many times in The Qur'an.
To reiterate, one of the key differences is the status of Jesus. All three believe he existed, but Christians are the only group to believe in Jesus as the son of God.
Let us know when you figure out who God tested Abraham with. Isaac or Ishmael?
Key bit of data there, don't you think?
Such a softball question. The answer obviously is no. The only good Muslim is a Muslim who lives and stays in the Middle East. We should never allow them into civilized society. They are committed to violence and murder of "infidels." That's us.
"So what do you propose to do with the 4 to 6 million American muslims?"
Pay for a one way ticket back to the Middle East. It would be money well spent.
Consulting the texts of that biblical scholar, Bob Dylan, I came up with the following:
Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
God say, "No." Abe say, "What?"
God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin' you better run"
Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done?"
God says, "Out on Highway 61."
*Snicker*
Stop that. This is supposed to be a serious thread.
sorry
If you deport all of the muslims, what do you do with all of their stuff? Public auction? I call dibs on the 7-11 down the street and my chiropractor's house!
I believe that Muhammad is not considered to be a prophet by most Christians.
So, you simply confirmed my statement.
It is important because it is another difference in tradition between Christianity and Islam. However, at the risk of downplaying my error, I feel that the key in the story is not the son but rather Abraham. He obeyed God to the letter.
We consider Mad Mo' to be a prophet, alright.
A false prophet.
Read the Bible. "False prophet" means something.
Speak for yourself. Im trying to lead them away from religion all together.
Abraham obeyed God to the letter. We can agree on that one.
