Sounds like a lamer plane than the Shoe-Bomber's.
What are the odds this ban on personal drinks will become permanent???
Richard Reid was about 10 seconds away from blowing that plane out of the sky when he was overpowered by fellow passengers.
These plans only sound dumb because they're stopped before given a chance to work. We're more alert now, and are on watch for the unusual. Prior to 9/11, if you saw some guy in the aisle next to you trying to set his shoe on fire and hold it against the window, you'd probably just sit back and laugh.
Yeah, I would think so. I haven't flown since Jun 04 (not for lack of wanting, though) and we were thoroughly searched in Florida. No 'outside' drinks were allowed on board then. People were pitching all sorts of things into the trash to 'clear' customs. I thought I was all good because I had packed according to the strict rules, except for the bottled water. On the plus side, beverage sales in the terminals were booming, pre and post flight.
If Reid had the common sense God gave a screwdriver, he would have used a lighter and gone to the bathroom.
And then, he would have succeeded.
