Why does it seem most the people in the world hate Israel? I don't understand it. Someone explain it to me...
Whats this We Chit!
Well, thank G-d for that (no pun intended). The world surely needs His help right about now, because there seems to be a big storm coming.
That's for sure. But you can still have calm in the midst of a storm. That's why Jesus came. Of course, I might feel differently if that storm was in my back yard (smile) but I hope not. My heart goes out to the people of Israel and even the Palestinians. My heart aches for the children who are being taught to hate from the time they are born. They don't even have a chance.
The devil wants it that way.
And my belated thanks for your thoughtful reply!
You are correct: one of Norway's leading men of letters "tries, & fails miserably, to cloak his hatred with the pretense of literary aspirations by mimicking the hebrew prophecies of doom."
Well said.
I am going to save one of your descriptions for use later
"that (fill in name of rag or newspaper here) could see fit to print this steaming, putrid puddle of bile."
Gaarder's ignorance is breathtaking, isn't it?
He trumpets to the world that he's never read or studied the Bible and therefore knows nothing about God's covenant with the Jews through Abraham, knows nothing about the receiving of the Torah on Mt. Sinai, knows nothing about the commission the Jewish people were given when chosen -- namely, the open worship of the one true God and the living out of his moral law in order to attract others to Him.
Had Gaarder read his Bible, he would have known that it was Abraham who reached out to God when others were lost in idolatry and it was Abraham who sacrificed for love of God. That's why Abraham and his people were chosen -- because Abraham chose God first, even before he chose himself.
Gaarder seems to think the Jewish people are spiritual "snobs" who hold themselves above others, but it's common knowledge that anybody can be Jewish if he wants to. While Jews don't seek out converts as we Christians do, they do accept them into their fold.
The rule is that a convert not only cannot be sought out, but must be strongly discouraged at least 3 times from converting - that's how you make certain that the conversion is legit.
Had Gaarder read his Bible...
He probably doesn't even have one, and I rather doubt that he believes in anything higher than man, government or race.
Holy crap...""
I am so totally ashamed of someone from my ancestoral country, I do not have the words...
Aha, there's that number 3 again!
3 discouragements
3 rabbis
3 things the convert must do
