But I don't understand why you say those sentiments carried no weight with them. They're using them to this day. Any threat is discounted as scare-mongering. Any offensive action is a threat to our constitutional rights. Etc., etc., etc.
I am making a distinction between the peace-weenies on the left who want appeasement and the Leftist Romantics. The Leftist Romantics don't want peace. They want rebellion, disobedience, violence, chaos. Any force that disrupts the good order of Western society feeds their longing for destruction of the culture that has given them so much.
So it doesn't matter if it is Fidel Casto, Hugo Chavez, or Osama Ben Laden. As long as they have someone who hates what they hate, they can receive a perverse pleasure.
