Mocking those beliefs has become a kind of obnoxious parlor game of these morally empty fools. This Whitaker is so corrupt, and so poor of spirit and imagination, that he can not believe Ahmadinejad at his word. Bernard Lewis is the leading scholar of the Islamic world, not the Bible-thumping caricature so dear to the British intelligentsia. One might think that if Lewis suggests we should take Ahmadinejad seriously, that we should take heed. Not Whitaker. He mocks, and mocks in a way that only underscores his ignorance and pomposity. The Whitakers are the reason why Europe is doomed. That day may be arriving far sooner than Whitaker expects.
