Former state Rep. Tim Walberg defeated freshman U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz on Tuesday night in the hotly contested 7th Congressional District Republican primary.
Schwarz, a Battle Creek surgeon, conceded the race after 11 p.m. With 68 percent of the district's precincts reporting, Walberg had 55 percent, or 24,564 votes, to Schwarz's 45 percent, or 19,739 votes.
The contest, which has drawn national attention, represented an ideological clash between Schwarz, a moderate, and Walberg, who was one of the most conservative state lawmakers during his 16 years in the state House.

He was indeed endorsed by the Club for Growth and I've given directly to him (and Steve Laffey in Rhode Island, Sharron Angle of Nevada and others) based on that fact alone. To me, the Club for Growth is what the RNC should be but isn't. I love it.

Did y'all know that the Republican Party was born in Jackson, Michigan---at the heart of the 7th District?
Please see: http://www.jacksonmich.com/markers/mark1.htm
Perhaps...maybe....just maybe....God willing....the Republican Party will be REBORN in Jackson....REFORMED, REINVIGORATED, REENGERGIZED as (GASP!) a CONSERVATIVE Party. Allow me my fantasy. It's all I have at this age.

Maybe you should change to Conservative Granny 'at this age'.
You are too funny and still too young to say 'at this age'.

"Well, now they KNOW! The conservative WON!" Yes, but only after he was 'moderated' by running against a mudderite. ;o)

The city of Jackson is dominated by liberals ( like most cities), but the county remains as conservative as it gets.
Hillsdale college, about 20 miles to the south west, is rated as the most conservative in the nation.
You can rest easy knowing the Republican party is alive and well in my county, it's place of birth.

Schwartz was also McCain's campaign manager in Michigan in 2000.
Let that worthless puke try to win the MI. primary again in 2008!

How about this quote from the story:
"Moderates are a dying breed," said Bill Ballenger, editor of Inside Michigan Politics. "They're not going to be elected."

All they ask at mlive.com is year born and M-F, no email address or nothing.
You can put anything you want and it still works.
I think they just want an idea of the age groups that read the paper.
