There are no new pictures of the President or First Lady today, since they are spending some time together at Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas, but we know full well that there are no 'vacations' for this President, and that he is hard at work protecting America from danger.
So.......since there are no new photos, I'm posting several of my favorite ranch pictures just for fun, and will give my report on my husband's and my personal encounter with the President last week, and will post the photos taken from our very own camera.
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on this slow August Daily Dose!
I LOVE when he talks about her. It gets me all twitterpated! :)
I would have loved too...he doesn't come to Illinois very often....lol
It was more than we could have hoped for!
I think the comparison with Lincoln is valid.
(I have a picture of his master with the same fellow......have you seen it?)
Maybe a personal letter from you and Mike would bring him there....... :)
Sigh...walking is good. I miss walking like a normal person. The crutches are annoying and I keep losing my balance.
Eh...the pain wasn't bad today. I haven't taken any pain medication today. So that's good. I hope the orthopedist says I can go to DC on time. I'll go with crutches if I have to.
Thank you so much for this beautifully detailed story of your meeting with our wonderful President. I read it with tears of joy for you and Mr. oWf and Eric, for the wonderful gift you were able to give him.
I loved the part where he talked about not caring about polls (spit) and knowing the American people pray for him. I will offer a special thanks to God tonight for making our "W" aware that we are here and we do care and pray.
When I got to this part I COL (cried out loud).....
(he knew we might see his Commander in Chief, but didn't know anything about what we had done), and when we said we got his signature, and asked if he would like to see it, and he said yes, we handed it to him (already framed), and his eyes welled with tears. After a moment, he kiddingly said, "When you see him again, tell him 'you're welcome'."
Once again, thank your beautiful son and thanks for your story.
(Glad the pain is easing up. That's a good sign).
"I know we have a goodlooking President but out of respect for Laura I won't gush."
You know, I can't help myself, I'm a gusher and there are so many things to gush about.
But the most gushable thing thing of all is his integrity and that he loves her so much. I think that's why we all love them both.
Somehow I think if one of them were to read our rantings they would just agree that the gushing over the other was all well-deserved!
I will thank him for you.
Yes please! ;*)
Also, when you have an extra minute or two, could you also give me some good points to use to encourage family and friends to GET OUT and VOTE for Ken Blackwell. I was stunned when I spoke to a friend Sunday who said she probably wouldn't bother to vote.
Flat Stanley! LMAO!!
Whenever I see him I think of the King of the Hill episode. "I believe this is the last year we do Flat Stanley, sug."
Thanks for telling us your story Ohio! You're so lucky! I wish I could meet him. It's so much easier to meet Reba than it is him and Laura. lol
My fave part was when you told us what he said about Laura and the 45 second commute (which Jen and I are a little confused on if he means something, or if he's just telling us that lol). Anyway, seems like you had a blast! I understand the feet hurting part. I met Reba again in Vegas a few weeks ago and I had front row on stage seats. Well, most everyone dresses up if u have those seats. So, I had high heels on that were new lol No problem wearing them at the concert b/c I had front row, I sat the whole time. The problem was waiting an hour backstage to meet her. It was well worth the horrible pain my feet were in. I kept looking at her waiting for my turn. That kept me going. Then after I met her, I still wasn't off my feet. I had to wait out on the casino floor in a line to get my pictures lol So, I know how you feel! It was totally worth it!
Glad you got to see our handsome President and meet him! :-)
I just hope he doesn't say I need to rest some more before I can do that kind of travelling. I should be able to put the Cam walker back on when I go on Friday...which I'm very excited about because at least that can be taken off unlike this stupid splint I have to wear now.
{The greatest sense we got from this was that he is a good, GOOD man.}
"As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight."
Psalms 16:3
Enjoyed your telling of events. Thanks so much for sharing it with us, and thanks for the dose.
ohiowfan:
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for providing us with such a poignantly detailed description of your close encounter with our AWESOME president! . . I'm still teary-eyed!
The following commentary by BEN STEIN is a perfect complement to your post:
A FEW MORE LITTLE FACTS
By Ben Stein

Here are a few little facts you might like to know:
When the Israelis capture Arabs in their wars, the captured Arabs are well fed, well housed, and eventually returned to their homes. When the Arabs (specifically the Syrians) have captured Israelis, they castrate them, cut off their male organs, decapitate the Israelis, and stuff their male organs in their mouths and leave the bodies on the field. Sometimes they also defecate on the bodies.
Israel has a population of about six million Jews. If a rocket hits a group of Israelis who are lying in the sun and kills 12 of them, that is the equivalent of the United States losing 600 men in one rocket attack. If nine Israeli civilians are killed in a rocket attack on a Haifa repair shop, that is the equivalent of the USA losing 540 civilians in one swoop.
Hezbollah is basically an arm of the Iranian army. Iran has a population of close to 70 million. Hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, are eager to join the fight against Eretz Israel. Even if by some miracle Israel wiped out every Hezbollah killer in Lebanon tomorrow, Iran could easily replace them forever. Resupplying the missilery is child's play: just buy it from China, our dear friends, who will sell it to anyone. This means Israel is in for an extremely prolonged, agonizing period of suffering.
For anyone with even a sliver of sensitivity to see this happening to a people who have already suffered more than any other people in history, is torture. TO SEE GEORGE W BUSH STAND UP FOR ISRAEL WHILE THE LEFT WHINES ABOUT TOTALLY MEANINGLESS MULTILATERALISM -- which means asking France to defend Israel, sort of like asking Martin Bormann to defend Israel -- IS TO SEE CLEAR DECENCY VERSUS A WAFFLING, AGE-OLD ANTI-SEMITIC SICKNESS.
The line of the fight between civilization and barbarism runs right along the Israel-Lebanon non-border. If it's not won there, it won't be long until the front line is right here, and then it will be too late. WHEN GEORGE BUSH STANDS UP FOR ISRAEL, HE STANDS UP FOR THE WHOLE FUTURE OF MANKIND. Yes, he has flaws and has made serious mistakes, but right now, HE IS A HERO FOR THE AGES.

Ohio:
Thanks for the dose today and most of all thank you for sharing all the details and pictures of your time with the President.
It's always nice to see and hear how great this President is; there is not enough of that in the world today. I too, am honored and blessed to have him as our President. He is truly a gift to us all.
