I'm a late X-er, and even I have problems with a lot of DIY. And my dad is brilliant at the stuff. Hopefully, I will get better with practice.
My late Father couldn't hammer a nail. My husband is like Magyver...he can make a house out of a ball of string and plastic spool. The latter is better.
Some basic tools, a couple of good DIY books and practice is all it really takes. Nobody is born with these skills.
