Right at the beginning it said the woman was going for umbilical stem-cell treatment, and then the rest of the article was about embryonic stem-cells. I don't think they ever really explained the difference.

Perhaps the author doesn't know the difference?

Sounds like they take fetal tissue from the aborted baby's liver.....

Then later the patient gets 'topped up'--whatever that means

Don't be naive. The author knows the difference but she is banking on the fact that the reader doesn't.
