Somehow, we must split open this crazy idea that absolute freedom of speech allows press and pols to engage in lying propaganda to advance their careers. General Mills cannot misrepresent the ingredients of Cherios on the box, but we have to plow through outright lies and distortions to try to gleen the truth about issues like this. I don't fault this article much as it told me lots of things I did not know, even if it overstated Bush's position. Pressure group politics is as much to blame as anything.
