About the style of writing: Why is it that news stories now read like a book. Whether it's a border patrol agent or an illegal who's being sent back to her own country, we have to have a human interest angle included. I guess I'm hardhearted or something because I'm not moved by the "will miss out on these special family moments" inserts. I am, however, outraged and aghast at the seeming injustice and railroading of these BP agents at the hand of those they risk their lives to protect.

About the substance of the article: Surely, there is an appeals court in the future of this case. Isn't there?

It's because they are not reports but mostly just stories to support the reporter's journalist's world view.

I hope the union (National Border Patrol Council) is going to go all out with an appeal for the accused agents. That's what unions are supposed to do.
