I noticed the Davidson County numbers after you mentioned it. That is probably Bryant's best County outside his old district, that I have noticed.

I live here and I am very active.

I have heard no one else worrying about whther Corker or Bryant could beat Ford.

Van scared folks a bit because he is a weak campaigner.

However, baring this current Israel-Hexbollah war which has sorta realigned the GOP base again

...there are plenty of factors that have dampened GOP base enthusiasm and we all know what they are....the same schism that divides this forum

Folks who will vote for Corkhead will often simply be voting against Ford....not for Corker.

Now we will have two lightweights

Did you happen to notice how excited Bill Van Hilleary appeared in endorsing Chattanooga Chafee ? How much was he paid ? I just want to know. How much $$ to sell his soul ?

IIRC, didn't Gore, when he was a Tennessee senator, run as a conservative Dem? I was thinking he was pro-life until he got national ambitions, and, didn't go off the deep end until after his loss in 2000.

Zogby in late June:
Bryant 45.7 - 41.4
Corker 42.4 - 41.4
VH 43.2 - 43.0

While looking through the e-mails from all three candidates and other places, I found a funny one. As recently as May 10, Corker carried about 10% of the Republican vote. What a difference >$6 million in spending can make. Two weeks later we started seeing Corker leading in some polls. The ads he bought with his own money labelled him as something other than he was and the effort to label him truly later did not seem to dent this.

And I thought I had more of the polls/e-mails than this... but I started cleaning things out a few days back. Thre were numbers all over the place. I just wish I could find the one from supposedly from Ford's camp... that is the one that stuck in my mind as he feared Bryant the most, Corker about in the middle, and Van Hilleary the least.

Sorry - they are not links.

I didn't like that commercial with his mother. I thought it was overbearing. I may be wrong but I believe Corker could go up against Harold Ford better than the others. Seems a lot of freepers don't care for my pick but thats what makes this country so great!!

We have full rights down here to bitch when a RINO wins our primary.

That fact does not make Harold Ford look any more appealing.

In the South, we expect real conservatives to win handily in statewide elections.

We are all too familiar with what will happen if we don't turn out. The Dems down here have a larger knee jerk always dependable voting block in a higher proportion to the general population than in any other region of the nation.

We voted like everywhere else demographically except Utah, this would be the solid liberal South.

I do confess surprise that Corker may beat Bryant and Hillary combined

Speaking of Bill Clinton, my son and I talked on the phone tonight about an hour and he laughed "his" off when I told him after watching Hillary, the bwitch questioning Rumsfied today that I like Bill better than her and I was glad he had a girlfriend. Anybody married to her would have to have a girlfriend. Sorry but I hated her more today than I ever have. If she would ever be President I don't think I could live throught it. Please tell me she will not be President!!

And this is why I worry for my state:

Ophelia Ford and State Sen. Kathryn Bowers were leading in early returns in state senate races where controversy and scandal were key players. Ford is leading fellow Democrat Stephen Haley in her repeat bid for the Dist. 29 seat, from which she was ousted after voter fraud allegations arose. In early voting, Ford has 9,323 and Haley 2,172 votes. The winner will face Republican Terry Roland Nov. 7. Ford, not accused of wrongdoing, had said the controversy would help her regain the seat vacated by her brother, John Ford, who stepped down last year after his indictment in the Tennessee Waltz public corruption probe. Bowers is the first lawmaker caught in the Tennessee Waltz net to deal with an election night. She pleaded not guilty to charges of accepting $11,500 in payments to influence legislation. She is leading in early returns with 6,916 votes to fellow Democrats Jennings Bernard’s 1,459, John A. Brown’s 1,141 and Steve Webster’s 2,773 for her long-held Dist. 33 Senate seat. The winner will go against Republican Michael Floyd in November.

In addition, it's possible that liberal voters crossed over to vote in the Republican primary for Corker.

Here are the primary totals so far for the Senate, which the precincts fairly GOP weighted. Do you see much crossover evidence here?

GOP Senate Dem Senate
Primary Vote Primary Vote
313,657 277,434

You may not get every single thing you would like but has anyone in the Congress or Senate ever been able to do it all? Try Corker, you might like him.........LOL.

The replay I viewed on WKRN (Nashville) had Hilleary stating "Corker won this race fair and square."

Laughable.

Bryant just conceded (10:54 PM CST).

Sad.

Yes, sad. SurveyUSA hit the nail with their last poll.

All that's left is to see if Cohen hangs on in TN-9 for the Democrats.

I suspect the precincts reported in the 9th CD are white weighted from the way the vote came in, in the GOP primary. We shall see soon.

Let's face it...he got out there early and got the name recognition among the mindless that are just above apathetic and vote.

Last year at the Williamson County fair he was the only candidate to have a booth with people there. The county GOP had people there but not Bryant or Hilleary.

It's a shame people, even Republicans who are usually more intelligent, fall for ad campaigns without looking at the facts.

I'll say it again...Corker can lose to Ford, Jr. I think this primary shows the conservatives, as has been forecasted, are sitting at home. The Republicans are in for a beating in November. But unlike some here and like Dems that would vote for Stalin if he had a D behind his name, conservatives have principles. And if that means losing power so be it. What is power if it is not used or abused?
