I'm leery of multimillionaire booksellers holding forth on Christian eschatology. I seem to remember guys like Hal Lindsey cashing in back in the Seventies, and I don't remember them fondly.
I can only speak for me, but I try to stay in the day and live my life knowing Christ comes when He comes, at any time, when He chooses. This business of dating dates and naming names smacks of fortunetelling and chicanery.
It's remarkable how someone that turned out to be a complete and utter failure like Lindey can still have a public career.
It's also called "newspaper exegesis." Jack and Rexella are the all time champs.
We can understand the signs of the times, but we have no idea when the end of this age will occur. It could be tomorrow, or it could be 100 years from now. If the latter, I have no doubt Israel will be fighting against her enemies the entire time. Thinking about and studying eschatological matters is fine, but the main focus for Christians should be preaching the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
Indeed. Whatever happens, happens in His time, not ours. Our job is to live a Godly life and serve Him to the best of our ability.
I'm prayed up, packed up and ready to go!
