the first wave of bombings was to have targeted five aircraft leaving British airports in the next few days. The destinations, US officials said, were New York, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles. The plotters are said to have studied the timetables of three US airlines: American, Continental and United.
Security sources said that a second wave of attacks had been considered, with as many as 12 aircraft to be attacked.

I didn't know about Boston and Chicago.
THANK YOU Velveeta.
These are the names of 19 suspects reportedly being held by the police after the foiled plot and whose assets the Treasury has sought to have frozen.

Makes me wonder still about the Egyptians.
One was caught in Chicago at O'Hare airport.
ROFL, no...probably not a wedding cartoon that we're used to.
Good to see you as well. I don't have time to post as often as I used to but I do check in to TM every single day, first thing.
Is there a state they haven't infiltrated? I feel like we're slowly losing our country.
The heightened security was definitely noticeable this evening. You're right, we don't know that this plot involved planes only. So many people on commuter rails and subways carry drinks on board, especially in the summer.
Inside job. We have to start screening the screeners.
Amazing how they ALL fit the typical terrorist profile.
Gee, not a Lutheran name in the bunch. Who'd a thunk it"
I haven't had any luck changing my son's flight at this point... and the day hasn't gotten any better- an Islamic Center has rented space a block from my house :(
Does anyone have an estimate on what percentage of the US population is Muslim? Someone told me it was over 25%.
I just googled it. Researchers say anywhere from 5 to 8 million in the U.S.
Okay, looks like I got my numbers messed up. It's the growth rate that is 25%, and I imagine that number is old, and doesn't reflect the energizing effect of 9/11 upon the growth rate.
This table below shows the growth of Islam:
The growth of Islam between 1989-1998:
N. America 25%
Africa 2.15%
Asia 12.57%
Europe 142.35%
Latin America -4.73%
Australia 257.01%

Give me a break. This, from one of the terrorists' neighbors:

"I know five of the men very well and they are really respectable young Muslim men," Qadir added. "
Yep.
You're shocked, I tell ya.
