The Republican National Committee's eCampaign Director -- Patrick Ruffini -- has sent out an e-message to America. Writes Ruffini:
"A group of prominent conservative bloggers is turning discussion into action with the launch of Rightroots an effort to support some of the most important House and Senate candidates of this election cycle..."
A visit to the newly online "Rightroots" website shows a listing of GOP candidates deemed "the most important House and Senate candidates for this 2006 election cycle." Included in this select group: Diana Irey -- Congressman John Murtha's PA District 12 opponent!
The brand new website serves as a collecting house as well. Visitors can contribute to any or all of the selected candidates. As of today, candidate Diana Irey has received the most $$ contributions.
This national highlighting of the Pennsylvania race between Irey and Murtha underscores what BootMurtha.com is saying: Rep. John Murtha is an all-American problem. More and more Americans are realizing this and are contributing what they can in time, talent and money to unseat this congressman.
I've been more than pleasantly suprised how directly in Murtha's face Diana has been.
Yep! Ya gotta luv it!
Is ANYONE polling this race?
When did this site officially open?
"Commissioner Irey's total now is over $4,500.
Impressive debut for this site. Michael Steele and Mark Kennedy are also faring well.
Rep. Jack Kingston pledged to donate $14K to various candidates if this Rightroots raised $26K by midnight on 4 Aug. As of 8:30 EDT this evening it was already over $20K, so I'm thinking Rep. Kingston will be opening up the change purse. :-)"
Not publicly
I'm not sure, but I think it was 31 Jul.
No how can every other race have polling, but not this high profile race?
What I can't figure out is why no media polling. Guess they still think Murtha and his verbal vomit will not pay a price in November.
However, Murtha's starting to act nervous. And Kerry and Cleland scampered to his side this week. I think someone, somewhere has some polling data which is not particularly favorable to our EX-Marine and Keystone Cop.
"You are making me cry, and that's reserved for Marines ; )
My kids told us the same thing about the house next to my folks when they were that age and also suggested we could build a little bridge to connect the two houses : ) Their Gramp is gone, but God Almighty that's a cherished memory of some of the most beautiful days of our lives."
Yesterday, my wife and I were shopping in Walmart. I needed some new neck holders for my outdoor fishing glasses. The total was $4.08. I paid with a 5$ bill. I never carry change, and my wife carries a little bag with change. She got out the 8 cents.
I joked that I had a change jar at home and my 7 year old grand daughter had just found out about it. They will be making a trip with their parents to Disney Land this fall so both are saving money for the trip. I told them that they could have a hand full of pennies, nickels and dimes each day they visited us. The grand daughter, thought for a moment and asked, "PaPa do you have any quarters in your Jar?"
That broke up everyone and will be part of the family legend. I told the young Mexican American woman checking us out the story, and she broke into tears. Her grand father had a change jar for the grandkids. She was the only girl and she got the quarters after her brothers and male cousins battled over the rest of the change. She said that she missed him as he had died two years ago when she was 19.
I told her that she had 19 years of wonderful memories, and she would treasure the memories the rest of her life. She smiled and said "Yes, I will. Thank you!"
Great.
You might consider making that website part of your tagline.
Plus, I'd prefer folks around here donate directly to Diana's site and save her the cut Rightroots takes out.
Do they take a cut out of our donations when we earmark a specific amount for her?
Yes. The details are on the site, but they take something out for operating expenses or the like.
Okay, future donations to Irey will be direct to her website.
I will continue to support this site for the other people running against rats.
Morning update: Irey is at $5,224
I'd like to see Zel Miller endorse her!
Hey, now you're talkin'! A hawkish Marine!! :-)
Ha! Looks like Rep. Jack Kingston will be coughing up the 14 K. I noticed there are 14 people listed at RightRoots that are House candidates, do you know if he's giving 1 K to each of them?
There are also four Senate candidates. I have no idea how he'll divide up the money, but your guess is a very good one. And then Frist could handle the Senate folks.
Mrs. Irey's total just incresed to $5459.
