One company,
Ormat an Israeli company with offices in Reno, Nevada, has some information on Geothermal. They are one of the world's leaders in the designing and construction of these type of plants. To give you an idea of what is required, here is a picture of one small plant:
In the middle of that small picture is a double shafted motor or generator, probably about 700-1000 HP, connected to what are either a pump and a turbine or possibly two turbines. That equipment represents well over a million in capitol costs alone.

They picked a good area, imo. Of all the areas I have worked on oil wells, Nevada had the highest bottom hole temperatures (easily) at 10,000 ft. In places, on the order of 350+ degrees. (It cooked the film in the survey tools we used back then and made it difficult to keep track of hole deviation).
