Whoa. Give this thread a R rating.
Thanks, as always for the laughs, Pookie!
This is why I very rarely visit FR anymore.
I do check out Pookie's toon, because I like political cartoons and it is convenient. On very rare occasions, I look for any article on something breaking, otherwise, I steer clear and haven't posted in years.
You raise a legitimate and civil question - one I have asked myself a few times - why all the cartoons that assume a moral equivalence between Israel and the terrorists? I don't expect an answer and never bothered to ask.
It's like describing a mugging scene where the assailant whacks the victim on the head with a baseball bat and runs off with the purse as "some man and some woman were fighting in the street over money."
Raising the question doesn't call into question anybody's conservative credentials, accuse anybody of anything nefarious, or advocate censorship. It is a question, maybe even a point of minor disatisfaction - the way a dirty fork was a minor point in an otherwise 5 star meal.
The response however is to act as if somebody cussed in church or protested a fallen soldier's funeral. ~95% of the people on FR agree with eachother 80+% of the time.
Unfortunately, the vocal majority aren't satisfied with anything less than 99% agreement 100% of the time - an Amen chorus. They choose to make the perfect the enemy of the good.
In Iraq, we have a similar thing - some soldiers hate contractors. Even the contractors from different companies spend way too much time attacking eachother (verbally) and repeating vicious accusations about how stupid, incompetent, or sour are the employees of another company.
None of them are terrorists. We're all fighting on the same side. We should be able to disagree without developing a deeper anger and hatred than we have for the terrorists.
I suspect many FReepers need to consider that also...there are no (confessed) terrorists here, just Americans and friendly allies that have nuances of disagreement.
I also enjoyed the conversation I had with pookie18 about this particular cartoon message I call "killing the peace dove."
Even though I enjoyed our conversation, I am not very satisfied by the way pookie18 addressed the question of why he posts the "killing the peace dove" cartoons.
In response to my question yesterday, pookie18 first told me that I was the only one who had a complaint about pookie18's choice of toons.
I found this response odd because when I had asked pookie18 that question on an earlier occassion, pookie18 told me that pookie18 will "sometimes post some left-leaning stuff (or things that I don't realize are left leaning) & some people have a fit."
I explained to pookie18 why I think this type of toon is inappropriate.
Pookie18 claimed the toon was "even handed."
I explained to pookie18 that "justice" and "even handedness" are not the same thing.
Pookie18 then basically told me to beat it.
Today, pookie posted this toon:
So, there it is again--Israel and Hezb'allah in the human skull's eyes head-butting the poor little "peace dove."
Obviously, pookie18 and I don't agree about the "killing the peace dove" cartoons.
But I think most of the FReepers get it and I am not looking for 100% agreement on FreeRepublic.
But these damn "killing the peace dove" cartoons really irritate me.
& then, TSchmereL whined...waaaah, waaaah,...again...as his OCD was flaring up...
It is clear that the artists who drew those cartoons know what is going on. Thanks for reminding me you posted them. Like I said, I like 99% of the cartoons you post and with percentages like that, I have very little to complain about. It's just those damn "killing the peace dove" cartoons that drive me nuts. I think I have let it get to me. Soon I will by lying on the couch at some psychiatrists' office telling him about dreams I am having that involve "killing the peace dove." Maybe I should just take up dove hunting instead of trolling on FreeRepublic.
Those were some of the toons I posted only yesterday & today.
I suggest you avoid dove hunting, it's a terrorist pastime...
