Worst concert I ever went to was Maria Muldar, back in the 70's. She had one pretty big hit, "Midnight at the Oasis". She was nearly two hours late, the intro band had run through it's entire set twice, and a half hour later she showed up and did three songs and left.

She never had another record, as far as I know. Best concerts were Jerry Jeff Walker (he plays better drunk) and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Buck Owens and the Buckaroos also use to put on on heck of a show. Both the Dirt Band and Buck Owens sounded every bit as good in person as they do on the records. Some don't know it, but those two groups had some of the best fiddle players that ever did country music. Don Rich, who unfortunately died in a motorcycle accident, was the person who gave Buck Owens band their distinctive sound, and was, IMHO, the best fiddle and steel guitar player of his era. I still think his cover of Orange Blossom Special is the best one ever done. Linda Ronstadt, when she was young and beautiful, also did fantastic concerts.

I did a blog about my only encounter with Willie Nelson. It's posted at my site, http://www.randomneuralfirings.com/, under the Pancho and Lefty title.

I wish I could have heard the Earle Scruggs Review live. I've got a lot of their songs. Linda Ronstadt's Silver Wings, with their playing, is really special. Ronstadt's the only super lefty that I just can't quit listening to her music.
