Shootings in Belltown

Seattle Times staff

At least three people with gunshot wounds were taken to Harborview Medical Center late this afternoon after they were shot at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle building in the 2000 block of Third Avenue in Belltown.

Seattle police have arrested one man who reportedly walked into the building with a handgun and began shooting.

The victims include two women, according Seattle Fire Department medics. Identities haven't been released but one woman is described as 43-years-old. She was shot in the abdomen. The age of the other shooting victim was not available, but police say she is 17-weeks pregnant. She was shot in the arm. Details about the third person shot were unavailable.

Several other people have been hospitalized for less serious injuries.

Police could be looking for another alleged suspect who may be on a nearby roof top. It's unclear whether any other arrests have been made.

Several witnesses said they saw a man walk up to the entrance of the building and shoot a woman in the leg. The man then walked into the building and made it up to the roof.

Witnesses said they heard one shot while the man was on the roof . The man then went back inside and witnesses said they heard several more shots.

Police have surrounded the building and police snipers are on top of nearby buildings.
