Maybe not yet but I'll bet the LaRaza's lay awake at night thinking of ways to exploit this weakness in our system to their advantage.......think Villaragosa in L.A. didn't have a decent # of illegals voting for him?

I realize I vote in a small town but am always amazed that they don't even ask for any type of ID of any sort...I think that SOMETHING should be required.

The only photo ID that proves US citizenship is a passport.

Do we really want everyone to be required to have a passport to vote!

There is an identity theft crisis going on.

When non-citizen/illegal alien voting came up, he admitted to me that she does vote and votes straight "R" in every election right along with him.

By golly, that's one way to fight them schemin' Democrats. We all gotta marry a furrin gal, git her a driver's license, and make sure she votes the right way! By gum, 12-13 million of us freepers do that, we can maybe win another election, someday.

As to "voter turnout over 100%" please name one place, with citation. This meme started with Jude Wanniski in 2000, claiming it for Philadelphia. I have carefully checked official data there, and elsewhere, and have challenged every time it appears, and never gotten a cite. It just isn't so -- Philly ran about 60% turnout of registered. Registrations were too high (lack of purging), but turnout still wasn't improbably high as percentage of voting-age citizen population. 99% for Gore or Kerry in some precincts, yes. 99 (or even 90) + % of registered voting, no.

And note, that dems make exactly the same claim for rural Ohio in 2004 -- with equally absent data -- except for one place where all the supplementary paper ballots for 6 precincts were mistakenly reported as being from a single one of those precincts.

How many illegals live in L.A. County Alone? I've heard estimates of from 5 - 10 million just in that one county.

The total population of LA County is under 10 million! What is the source of this "estimate" ? It's not denying that there is a problem to ask for SOME evidence for the size and distribution of the problem. IF you take a deep breath and consider, I really don;'t think you believe that 55 to 110% of the population of all of LA County is illegal.

"Do we really want everyone to be required to have a passport to vote!"

The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. In order to facilitate the implementation of this requirement, the Administration is proposing to complete it in phases following a proposed timeline, which will be published in the Federal Register in the near future.

If you plan on taking a cruise in 2007, or go to Mexico, Canada, etc. you will need it. Everyone needs to have one by 2008.

Real ID is part of it.

What is the source of the "estimate" of 300,000 illegals registered to vote in one state? Not impossible, but I'm skeptical.

Your skepticism eminently qualifies you for a post on the RNC. Just as a heads up, the Mayor of Detroit admitted to 150,000 phony registrations in his fair city alone.

=================================

Per your post above, an attack on my skepticism is not a source. If it's strictly YOUR estimate, fine. Just say so.

As to detroit, I've checked the articles, and it is certainly true that there are lots of people still on the rolls who have moved, died, etc. No indications there that any of the padding is due to illegals, though I'm sure some is. The entire state of Alaska and lots of eastern Kentucky have 100+% registration v. population figures, too, when they don't purge the lists much.

Again, there certainly is a problem with improper people voting, but pulling data out of the air doesn't help identify and solve it.

Ignore BohDaThone's posts. He/she/it is just an open borders/pro illegal alien amnesty troll.

Ignore it and it will move along.

IMHO There is absolutely no way any document can be verified but, create an office which does nothing but verify Id's. IOW, When someone presents any ID, it is verified with that respective states bureau of vital statistics.
Obviously, if they were born here, there will be a record of it. But the only way to verify it is via the BVS for their state of birth.

The total population of LA County is under 10 million!

At the moment, LA County officially has about 11 million residents. But bear in mind, this is the official figure, derived from the last census.

Illegal aliens, by their very nature, cannot be accurately counted. All a reasonable man can say is that there are many, and their number should be added to the official census number to come up with the total population of the county.

I can say "Add 25 %," someone else can say "Add 40%," to set an estimate of illegal alien numbers. The state and local Government might estimate 10%. The crux of the matter is that no one has a very good idea of how many illegal aliens there are in LA County, or anywhere else.

Working backwards from the number of illegal alien children in LA public schools, or children whose parents are suspected illegals, we might well surmise that the Goverment estimates are very low. How low? My guess is at least as good as the government's, and that's the problem.

Last year, it was commonly reported that there were "..over 10 million illegal aliens in the country." This year, a commonly quoted figure is 12 million. But some researchers suggest that their work shows well over 20 million illegal aliens nation-wide.

Take a deep breath and walk through Inglewood, or Cudahy. You tell me your estimate of what percentage of the residents of LA County are illegal aliens. Remembering that LA County is 34,000 square miles, it is not inconceivable that one might realistically add another 3 million people to that official number.
