That's what I'm saying, these discussions are so selfish.

"It's so much money for no work." But nobody is racing to the license classes to get on this gravy train. Sometimes agents suck sometimes agents get an easier payoff(Like any job), but day in and day out, it's hard stressful work. I think the median salary of an agent is 17k/year. Of course nobody is concerned with agents when the market is terrible). And then they want some kind of regulation. How about just paying the commission you're comfortable with? Because deep down they know good service commands more.

I do not like anyone being overpaid. I want to work a hard satisfying life. But if you hate agents, look in the mirror at YOUR choices.

"But if you hate agents, "

then DON'T use them. If you value their services and think the fees are worth what you get then find one that you like. That's what freedom is.

It's amazing to me how many people on FR say they are conservative, but as soon as something comes along that they don't like they immediately think of a law that will instantly solve their problem.

As in most any other sales field, the 80/20 rule applies.

Lots of part timers and dillitantes. Many commission motivated who provide no service.

Those don't usually last.

You have made many good points in your defense of your profession. However, the above quote is exactly what the thrust of the article is about; Realtors limiting your choices by discriminating against discout brokers, refusing to show their listings and seeking legislation essentially requiring that all brokerage business be full service.
