Emil Lahoud's father Jamil Lahoud was apparently a Syrian Orthodox Christian. His mother, Adrienne Bajakian, was a French-educated Armenian Orthodox Christian.

I assume that Lahoud was baptized into his father's church, as was the custom then, but I seriously doubt he even claims to be a practicing Christian - his religion is for all practical purposes doing whatever Syria wants him to do.

Emil Lahoud is Christian for identification purposes and political purposes. That's the politics in a place like Lebanon. Even if Lahoud only goes to church at Christmas
