That fearlessness is probably based on the MAD principal. Syria has a very capable Scud based Chemical WMD home made capability. They also possibly just recently achieved biological WMD capabilities. Saddam toys would have been very useful to the Syrians, but now they are probably integrated into Syria's WMD programs and are therefore impossible to accurately identify as Saddam's Old Toys.
