.....well, that brings up a funny memory from fiji.....

.....was there about 20 years ago.....

.....visited a garden of ole ironsides.....

.....passed a man in military pants, shirt and helmet, but no shoes or weapons (he was barefoot!).....

.....we were on a scooter on a dirt road and he was jogging.....

.....this was in the middle of nowhere btw.....

.....when we passed him, he smiled and said bula.....

.....when we mentioned this to a local they explained.....

.....that there was currently a civil war going on.....

.....shocked, i committed that i hadn't heard about this, or i wouldn't have booked a vacation there.....

.....the local told me not to worry, she didn't think either side was armed and there had only been a couple of fist fights so far!.....

.....this is my honest recollection.....

.....some items might be clouded by the fact that a Coke cost $5 down there and Fiji Beer was $1.....

Bula! Thanks for that. When I lived in Hawaii, there was a consistently errant cow that kept coming over to destroy the gardens. The owner was warned and warned. Finally, we said, if that cow comes across one more time, it's a gonner. Well, that cow is a gonner. A Fiji neighbor saw to it and packed up the cuts for all the other neighbors.
