Has anybody noticed how similar this thread is to rebel_yell's "I'm stuck in Lebanon" thread? It's was filled with rude, callous posts about how his situation was his own darn fault.

I always hated the term "compassionate conservatatism" because the premise of the phrase is that conservatism isn't compassionate per se. Now, i'm not so sure. Maybe Bush was on to something.

But your mother did. At least you noted as much when reciting the displinary traits instilled in you as a child awaiting a makeshift fashion show. That is not a slight on her, the point is, she was lucky no harm came to you and your siblings while she was away from you. In this instance, as the boy was playing near a mirror, his mother was not as lucky as yours.
