If she was standing right there, she could've removed him from the situation. I don't know of any parent who would just stand there if they saw something about to fall on their child.

Maybe, maybe not. We don't know, we weren't there. We don't know what caused the mirror to fall.

I have a 25cubic foot upright freezer that is taller than I am (I'm 5'10"). A few weeks ago the door came off as I openned it.....had my 8 year old been with me when it happened, and in her normal position when we put in or take things out of the freezer, it would have hit her before I could have held it up. Does that make me a negligent parent? Had she been standing there would I be the one at fault?

Thankfully she was outside playing and my husband was in the house and was able to help me.........but I had no clue that door was going to fall. Just the day before she had gotten something out of the freezer. I would have been devastated had it happened then, but I would not expect anyone to take the attitude toward me that has been taken toward the mother in this situation.

Apparently my expectations of people are way off base.
