The problem with that idea as I'm sure you realize- is that it will not happen

Is it your view that we will accept defeat?

The pressures on the world for oil are of such magnitude that it's a remote possibility that we will ever mount such an offensive- to say nothing of the screaming from the international community.

The oil is going to be cut off whatever we do.

There is no such thing as an international "community".

"The oil is going to be cut off whatever we do."

Since there is no shortage of oil and anything that is "kept" from us merely goes on the open market, thus driving down prices due to an increasing supply, why and how could an oil producing nation do this? Iran MUST export oil to survive ditto all the OPEC nations. Since we import 60% of all our oil and we use 24% of the entire worlds output, who picks up the slack if we are somehow prevented from buying any?

If this is so, then it's going to be every man (country) for himself. And the US better be leading that group if we are to survive.
