Three things were on the evening news in Israel that must be brought to light.
Elite IDF units have found on the ground in Lebanon a large number of the most up to date Russian man portable anti tank missles. The missle is the AT-14 Kornet and Hizbullah was taught how to use it bu Iranian instructors.
Second the 220mm rockets that hit Haifa today were of recent manufacture in Syria.
Lastly and most import Syria has a a current on going operation to resupply Hizbullah with rockets and other equipment.
"Mounting civilian casualties and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Lebanese could limit the time Israel has to achieve its goals, as international tolerance for the bloodshed and destruction runs out."
Screw "international tolerance", just get the job done this time.
Evidently this UN official couldn't make direct contact with Hezbolla with this information so he used the press.

Pushing straight into Southern Lebanon, into defenses built up over the last 6 years, is going to result in serious casualties for the IDF.
The best move is an 'Inchon amphibious op' just south of the Litani river. Drive East and cut Hezbollah off from Beirut and the Bekka Valley. Once cut off the IDF can squeeze them from 2 sides while cutting off resupply. Use your superior mobility and strike power to offset their somewhat formidable static defenses.
Given that "international tolerance" for Jew-killing is apparently infinite, the adjudicators thereof can go perform a self-referencing but anatomically impossible sexual act.
