State to check on residents' health
By Warren King
Seattle Times medical reporter
Washington state health officials will soon start asking detailed questions about the health of some state residents and even give them brief physical exams.
The door-to-door survey of 1,100 randomly selected households across the state will try to learn more about our health, and especially about our risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes, to better target preventive educational programs.
"We want to get a snapshot of [residents'] health ... and if we can't prevent the diseases, have early detection of them," said Dr. Juliet VanEenwyk, state epidemiologist for noninfectious diseases.
The Washington Adult Health Survey is sponsored by the state Department of Health and is designed to gather a cross section of state residents. The survey will begin late this month and will take about a year, VanEenwyk said.

Participants will be given a $45 gift card for their help in the survey. Officials are not seeking volunteers; participants are being chosen to represent the diverse population of the state.
The survey is being financed by an $800,000 grant from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Kansas and Arkansas also were awarded survey grants.

This all presumes that people are going to tell them the truth.
In theory, the Census requires you to answer honestly, by law, with all of the legal implications associated with this. They are modeling some of these "surveys" after the census, so it stands to reason that they would try and put the fear of some kind of penalty into people.

The sign next to the large pink thing has been Photoshopped. Yes, but I'm sure "the large pink thing" wishes the belly had been the photoshop subject.

It's nefarious no matter how you look at it. Plus, these days, all women are practically at "childbearing age".
Some folks just need all their funding cut.

Oops! Sorry, I didn't pay any attention to your login, that should have read "Dudette..."Perhaps. But were I a "dude", waxing silly about fonts might be an indicator of, uh, deeper issues.

It doesn't explicitly say so, but it looks like this is not at all volontary - residents are being chosen. Looks like the all-powerful govt gives you no choice.

"OH. HELL. NO.
The final intrusion. The government coming on your property and telling you you have to basically let them prod you."
While I agree with your sentiment, it's not quite that bad yet, there's no mention if you can opt out, but I'll bet there is. It's also not every resident, it's a sampling of the populace.
I'd be interested to see them *force* people to give blood and hair (dna) without being under arrest (samples for job applications are voluntary), and that would probably lead to the mother of all Supreme Court cases, to determine is we actually "own" our blood and DNA, and wether the Feds or anyone else can demand it, regardless of reasons for needing it.
I think such a case is needed, because it's going to have to be determined eventually. We have the right to tell yellow vested folks who show up at our doors and want blood and hair samples to pound sand, but the thing to watch for is when we lose that right, and that ball is still in play...I hope.

This all presumes that people are going to tell them the truth.Scarier? It also presumes a certain compliance rate.

That's gotta be her belly button showing beneath the hem of her dress. Thank you so much for causing me to go back for another gander.
How utterly disgusting. I should post that pic so I can look at it everytime I get the urge to eat; I'd lose my appetite.
No kidding.

No doubt. But you should still consider adjusting the default font in your browser. It'll save you some typing.

No, Constitutionally the Census requires an enumeration of the adults in the home - that's it. Anything else requires either voluntary cooperation or a warrant per Amendment 4.

They're. Out. Of. Their. Minds.
They are not - they know exactly what they are doing, and what they think people will tolerate, and the fact that they are giving people $45 "gift cards" illustrates that completly - they know if they basically buy off the citizens, they can have access to whatever they want.
You cannot brush them off, as these kinds of things will become more commonplace.
This is being funded by the CDC. Don't be surprised to see this go nationwide, in a manner similar to how the feds rolled out what is basically a national ID program (i.e. "REAL ID") - the feds forced the states to accept this ID program through penalizing those states that don't want it, just as they did with the "No Child Left Behind" crap which is a veiled attempt by the feds at taking over education.
It will not surprise me in the least to see the feds try to push this program nation-wide once they have feedback on what may have bothered those being surveyed, and how they can change that image.
Never underestimate the federal government these days. Just because a Republican heads it, doesn't mean anything.

it's not quite that bad yet When it is, it's too late for peaceful resolution.

They said the money came from a grant from the C.D.C. I sure hope none of that money is taxpayer money.

Doctors already ask that question on that survey they give I would certainly hope that people write big and bold...
