It was very beautiful. Went fine with her outfit. But I wouldn't doubt that grandkids helped her out . . . in a manner of speaking. I loved it. Was hillarious.

Yes, it is very funny. Especially knowing the culture. It's just so out of character. So...."white manish." LOL

And, actually, she likely is--her own tool--probably being a very good capitalist matriarch.

I admire the Navajos for their respect for their elders. The grand parents are the head of the clan.

But I'll never forget my humor at figuring out what the wording design on her scarf said.

Was it in Navajo or English? I can imagine how amused you were when you figured it out. :o)

The red words on the Navy blue background were in English. But they were in lines of text that formed squares--the lines being at right angles to each other. And from even maybe 3-5 feet away, that they were words was not overly obvious. On closer inspection, the words were clear ALL CAPS, block text. Looked like something Ralph Lauren might have done. Wouldn't have been surprised to have seen his label on it.

Yeah, grandparents have quite a place in that culture.

Though there's a joke at the college. Often Dineh students will have to "go to grandma's funeral." It seems they may have 16 grandmas in one semester. LOL. Characters.
