The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps calls itself a "project of the Declaration Alliance," although few MCDC volunteers know what the alliance does or why Minuteman donations are routed through the charity founded and headed by conservative activist Alan Keyes.
Several Minuteman leaders and members questioned the wisdom of ceding control over fundraising to the Herndon-based Declaration Alliance, part of an intricate weave of conservative organizations founded and chaired by Mr. Keyes or tied to longtime Keyes associates working with MCDC.
MCDC President Chris Simcox told The Washington Times that the alliance offers "an experienced organization for mass mailings, advertising and public relations" and the ability to conduct a "fully accredited and independent audit" of MCDC finances.
Mr. Simcox said he "checked these people out very carefully before agreeing to work with them" and that he made the "correct decision" in hiring "clean professional consultants, accountants and media professionals." He did not, however, disclose during an interview last week or in a 3,961-word follow-up statement how much Declaration Alliance and its affiliated organizations have been paid for their services
During the interview, he said, "Not one cent of MCDC money has been spent on alliance projects." The statement, released on the MCDC Web page, www.minutemanhq.com/hq/, does not mention Declaration Alliance or Mr. Keyes. ...."
"..Diener Consultants first contacted the Minuteman organization in early 2005, said Ms. Hair, the MCDC spokeswoman who also was a top adviser to Mr. Keyes in his presidential and senatorial races. She said she called Mr. Simcox after the Minuteman group was created to ask whether he had a media plan. After being told no, she said, she met with Mr. Simcox and Minuteman co-founder James Gilchrist in Washington and signed an agreement...."

In my estimation, and I hate to say this, but they shouldn't be holding the government accountable if they can't do the same thing on their own while at the same time disclosing for even their due-paying members where all the money went, and according to one of the Wash Times articles be Seper, supplies such as food, fuel, radios, night vision scopes and binoculars were never delivered to them.
Everyone expects the government to botch and mishandle anything they get their hands on, but we're not talking about a government organization.
That is a LONG list.
I'm still holding my water on this whole story, but it's beginning to look worse and worse. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but...
The purpose of The Subway Canaries is to expose intellectually dishonest conservative ideological hypocrisy. The Subway Canaries are stalwart Republicans who are dismayed at the direction subversively extreme conservative ideologues are taking the GOP. The Subway Canaries feel if the true agenda of these individuals and organizations are not exposed to the light of day, the Republican Party will either become the party of Extreme Right Wing Hate and Racism or be forever relegated to a minority party. This is our only agenda. It is an agenda of truth and intellectual honesty - Truth, Justice and the American Way! The Subway Canaries are Republican First and conservative second. Any other way is a betrayal of the Republican Party.
They sound like Christie Whitman "It's my party too" Republicans.
Kristinn Taylor is the head of the DC chapter of Free Republic. Trying to smear him in your conspiracy theroies could be hazardous to the health of your FR account.
Good grief I am not trying to smear anyone. I didnt want anyone to accuse me of selective editing on the post that I was copying from another blog. I believe that post had to do with Peter Kutz and what is position actually was. That was the topic of discussion. I know there are a ton of people here associated with the Minutemen and are involved in various capacities. All mostly volunteer. I also don' think I accused anyone on here of being on the take or whatever.
Wow...... you've been sleeping for nearly four days now. Is there a Van Winkle in the family tree?
