The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps calls itself a "project of the Declaration Alliance," although few MCDC volunteers know what the alliance does or why Minuteman donations are routed through the charity founded and headed by conservative activist Alan Keyes.
Several Minuteman leaders and members questioned the wisdom of ceding control over fundraising to the Herndon-based Declaration Alliance, part of an intricate weave of conservative organizations founded and chaired by Mr. Keyes or tied to longtime Keyes associates working with MCDC.
MCDC President Chris Simcox told The Washington Times that the alliance offers "an experienced organization for mass mailings, advertising and public relations" and the ability to conduct a "fully accredited and independent audit" of MCDC finances.
Mr. Simcox said he "checked these people out very carefully before agreeing to work with them" and that he made the "correct decision" in hiring "clean professional consultants, accountants and media professionals." He did not, however, disclose during an interview last week or in a 3,961-word follow-up statement how much Declaration Alliance and its affiliated organizations have been paid for their services
During the interview, he said, "Not one cent of MCDC money has been spent on alliance projects." The statement, released on the MCDC Web page, www.minutemanhq.com/hq/, does not mention Declaration Alliance or Mr. Keyes. ...."
"..Diener Consultants first contacted the Minuteman organization in early 2005, said Ms. Hair, the MCDC spokeswoman who also was a top adviser to Mr. Keyes in his presidential and senatorial races. She said she called Mr. Simcox after the Minuteman group was created to ask whether he had a media plan. After being told no, she said, she met with Mr. Simcox and Minuteman co-founder James Gilchrist in Washington and signed an agreement...."

Do I need to spell it out for you, or are you just being deliberately disingenuous?
They're spouting conservative jargon to get the donations.
You know, Conservatives in Name Only?
For instance, the Declaration Alliance PAC, referenced above - 95% of what they took in, they spent on more fundraising.
They did spend 5% on donations to candidates, but they told the IRS they didn't spend any money to support or defeat any candidate.
And by the way, that's based on reports they themselves filed, and that are readily available on government websites, not from "liberal" sites, and not from "anti-FReeper" sites.
I just got home from the lake and see I've missed all the fun.
I have one question: I see up the thread that EV has indicated he's "done some volunteer" work and some "consulting" work.
Did we or did we not see a listing last week where he's raising mony through one of Keyes' "thangs" for Simcox?
So they're against the GOP, right?
That explains all the "activity" on the George Allen threads. They're here to keep him from getting the nomination.
I don't know about that.
I found several websites that detailed some of his "consulting" work for various losing candidates, but I didn't want to post those links because they have his real name in them.
I'm sure they'd be pretty easy to google up, though.
...but they told the IRS they didn't spend any money to support or defeat any candidate.
That'll teach you!
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
The only thing they seem to have much success at is raising money for their web of companies.
Only If I knew him personally and socially. My kid is big enough to be on her own for short periods.
I would not let my congress critter Kolbe babysit anyone's kids. He's a poofter.
Wanting secure borders is no more of a religion than being a Republican or joining the military. It's just something that has to be done, whether or not some folks like it.
It doesnt keep me awake at night thinking about it.
Well I am sure that the staff at American Caging, Strategic whatever in Georgia, politechs, Diener Group, and lord knows who else all recite the Declaration of Independence everytime they cash their paycheck from all the donations. So it is money well spent I suppose
I posted the link a couple of days ago. Give me a few minutes to find it again. It might have been the FEC, now that I think about it.
Well, I see the "responses" haven't gotten any more "forthcoming," if you will, in the few days I'm been gone.......LOL
:-)
Read the letter, then refer back to the "mission" of DAPAC as stated on its web page.
Same ol', same ol'.
And we know that the cash all says "In God We Trust".....
What a bunch of hogwash; but are you surprised?
That's sort of like that old thing about "Who are you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes."
I just want to know if they are lying to the FEC, their donors, or both.

Some issues are larger than labels. This is not an appropriate forum to rehash quips from 2002-2006, thats four years worth of slanders against a group the President, his advisors, and direct and indirect employees, the left and right have dogged these folks for.
If he has not been charged with a crime, you are not going to "uncover" one on this forum. He's not Dan Rather, he's a private citizen.
If I see real evidence from law enforcement, I will join the conundrum.
Thousands of posts dont mean much. Links found on the internet dont mean much either.
I live in Southern Arizona, about 45 minutes from Nogales. If Simcox had not been successful; Hastert and Kolbe and the Guard would not have been down on the border last night.
Simcox lives in Tombstone, in Cochise County. He has to deal with the results of illegal immigration daily. He has a reason to complain about governmental inaction.
Just because other folks are awakening to our 30+ million undocumented illegal aliens, and it's against someone's agenda does not make that agenda mine.
Simcox has been more succesful than many other folks due to location and whom he has been able to persuade.
Many are jealous he has gotten the forum. Many hate him for bringing the subject up.
How much do you think it cost the taxpayers for Hastert's trip last night? Probably more than the supposed "missing" donations.
You do realize the feds are paying about 1.8 Billion to deploy the Guard to the border in payroll and expendibles, dont you?
What the Feds have in capacity to do makes the the Minutemen and Simcox's efforts miniscule. They have and do waste more in a matter of hours on the border relative to a handful of vounteers and a small fence.
The whole point of the entire exerise is to secure the border and stop people from walking into the United States.
I live in Southern Arizona. There are only about 4-5000 discrete posts of events related to illegal immigration which are mostly local stories - posted here on this board.
Forgive me if I dont go out of my way to slime Simcox. He is doing the right thing at the right time.
I haven't seen a single new accusation against Simcox on the threads for the last two weeks. Just a bunch of folks making accusatory unfounded statements.
I trust the local law enforcement. If he is doing wrong he will be taken care of. In the meantime, I dont go out of my way to slime him on a forum.
