he reason for the disparity in these casualty numbers.

Aren't these Lebanon figures supposed to be "civilians"? Are we suppose to believe that the only Lebanese killed have been civilians? Who is it there that determines the "civilians" from the Hezzies since the cowards don't wear identifying uniforms or insignia?

I've been asking the same thing. Someone said Nassy clamped down on public funerals but since when did any journalist (esp. the MSM and BBC) ever care about someone setting boundaries?

No funerals. All this talk about deaths,,,hundreds of Lebanese killed....

Not one chanting, marching, rabid funeral. Not even a burial. Not even a GRAVE to show the bleeding heart MSMies.

I've been wondering what is up with all that...

From YNet:

Peres questions Lebanon's casualty toll

Vice Premier Shimon Peres on Wednesday questioned the reported casualty count in Lebanon after days of pounding by Israeli warplanes. Lebanese government and police sources and local residents have reported at least 299 people killed in Lebanon, in the conflict triggered in retaliation for Hizbullah's July 12 capture of two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid. Since it's Peacenik Peres, he probably thinks the casualty count is underestimated.
