00:25 Two IDF soldiers killed in clash with Hezbollah in south Lebanon (News Agencies)

Am I the only one wondering how it is that in all these skirmishes there are only IDF dead?

Is it that the IDF is doling out death big time and they are just being coy about the outcomes or - this worrries me - that they are getting repeated bloody noses.

I am reminded of that horrible phase 3-4 days into the liberation of Iraq - remember the sandstorm? - when there seemed to be no good news (until Mad Ivan posted a report of a British raid on a Baathist HQ in Basra).

Not left yet so I'll answer your question: The two soldiers who died were the same who were reported seriously wounded previously - one with a head wound, the second from a blast injury. The other 6 who have been reported injured are, as far as can be ascertained from the reports, luckily only moderatly or lightly wounded.

At the same time the IDF estimates that they have killed 30 to 40 hezbollah terrorists in the fighting. However, they also admited that it had been tough going:

"According to the IDF, 10 Hizbullah cells were hit by the IDF throughout the day, as well as three Hizbullah command centers. The army estimated that between 30 and 40 Hizbullah terrorists were killed.

However, a high-ranking IDF officer said the difficulties troops encountered in Thursday's fighting could prompt a larger-scale ground offensive into southern Lebanon."

OK, now I'm off - Good Night all.
