I realize this will come off as extremely cold, but is it just me or is there way too much worry about a single military death in TV coverage. How would TV cover something like the Battle of the Bulge today?

I would think the way TV has covered this battle that hundred of thousands were dead in Lebanon and tens of thousands were dead in Israel. I just think when armies go to war you should expect thousands of deaths and anything less is a miracle.

To follow up on this I have told my wife that all the Iraq war casualty counts amaze me. The way I look at it until we have 100X casualties that we had on 9/11, I think our military deaths are well worth it to ensure progress on war on terror. I guess I'm warped.

The Gulf War changed everything. People expect a bloodless war now.

How many deaths were you prepared for last week?

200 civilian deaths (again forced to live above launchers) is too many? I just don't understand that logic. IT'S A WAR.

I agree with you. It's all political. I hate to bring it up but it is appropriate: over 40 million abortions in the past 30 years. Where's the outrage from the media and politicos about 10 million plus per year? (Don't answer...it's just a reference point.)

One other thing that I've noticed is the images of blown up buildings in Lebanon. The media makes it look like the whole of Beirut is blown up. I heard no less than two pundits say that it is only one large neighborhood.

I think they should send old volunteer geezers like me. I'm ready. Just gimme a gun, point the way, and gimme a shove. I would be more than happy to replace any young person in harm's way. Can't hear, can hardly see, can't walk too far because of my caloused feet -- the ideal decoy.

It might come to that. But I would expect the whole world would be involved in their own neighborhoods if the crazies go to Plan B. In which case, I'm as ready now as I'll ever be. How 'bout yourself?

I heard a reporter ask the State Department spokesman if he felt the deaths of 300 Lebanese was worth lasting peace.
I didn't hear the response because I was thinking it that was the cost then so be it. Definitely worth it. For lasting peace.
